Summary

Loralei has nothing to her name except a potty mouth, excellent aim, and a great understanding of how best to earn coin. Juggling three jobs, she works tirelessly to support her family of various orphans and aged adoptive parents. Things start happening in her town after the arrival of a mysterious shifter. Bodies without spines and melted buildings become bad for business. To make matters worse, a disease that has plagued her father has now resurfaced and two more are afflicted. One treatment would take years of savings, but three is impossible. Lora takes a work contract with few details and pays more than all three combined. Orenoir loves killing and money. The two go hand in hand with a job as a bounty hunter. Humans are as disposable as they are weak, too easy to accidentally unalive, so he is not just shocked to find his mate among them, he is horrified. Torn between his desire and brutality, Oren cannot decide what to do with her especially when she tests him constantly. Fighting the urge to destroy everything and carry her off, he posts a job that she cannot refuse.
