For centuries, the publishing industry has relied on subjective opinions and “gut feeling” to decide which books to publish. This broken process has caused many talented authors to feel hopeless with novels left unpublished in a folder on their computer. So many great books including J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter, Stephanie Meyer’s Twilight, Stephen King’s Carrie, and many more were unfairly rejected by dozens of publishers. They were lucky to succeed because ONE editor took a chance on them. We believe there are thousands of authors who’ve written amazing stories but haven’t had their chance to shine– we’re here for them.
We don’t believe that authors need to be salespeople and should have to convince editors or so-called “experts” that they’ve written a great novel. We also don’t believe that authors have to be marketers and become the next Kylie Jenner to sell self-published books. Instead, we follow one simple principle: authors write books for their readers and if their readers love it, we publish it.
An equal chance at success for every author
Our core belief is that every author should have an equal chance at success. In fact, it’s one of Ali Albazaz, Inkitt founder and CEO’s driving forces to start this company. When he immigrated to Germany at 10 years old, he struggled to receive recognition from the school system for his strong academic performance due to the bias of his foreign background. Fortunately, he had his 5th grade teacher in his corner who believed in him and went above and beyond to support him, and because of her, he’s able to make it to where he is today. That’s the value Ali wanted to incorporate at Inkitt – using data and science to discover great storytellers and putting the full force of our support behind them when no other publisher would. As a data-driven publisher, we aim to become the fairest and most objective publisher who systematically discovers hidden talents and turns them into globally successful authors.
Within 10 years, we’ve helped hundreds of writers achieve global success including Sapir Englard (author of The Millennium Wolves), S.S.
