KCFC: Her Adonis

Let Your Love Rain Down on Me

In the middle of the night, Ruby sighed amongst her blankets, unable to sleep. After tossing and turning for hours she had finally given up. Even with the peaceful rain pelting down on the house around her she couldn't find rest.

"This is ridiculous."

Getting out of bed she quickly got dressed, slipping into a nightgown. She was pretty sure walking around the city nude was frowned upon by the law. Maybe a walk would clear her head some. It couldn't hurt, considering she was torturing herself here.

Once outside she opened an umbrella, holding it close as she looked up at the cloudy night sky. It was little things like this that she would miss. The smell of rain, and coffee, and the sound of Moira humming in the morning. Small, inconsequential things that suddenly made her world turn. What would she do without them?

"You should be in bed."

She was only a few feet away from the front door and already she was regretting her decision. Why was there always someone watching her? It was like they were afraid she might implode if left alone. Maybe she would.

Ignoring the man behind her she continued down the sidewalk, taking in deep breaths to take in the smell of the chilled air. This is what she needed, right? Just a nice, gray night to tire out her overactive mind.

"Ruby."

She waved his concern off.

"I heard you. I'm ignoring you."

Rysten raised an eyebrow at her nonchalant way of telling him to fuck off. He might be proud of his little demon if he didn't worry over her so much. She looked tired, clearly not her normal self. She was beginning to change and he wasn't sure how she would handle it all.

"You couldn't sleep."

She rolled her eyes. What was he doing? Did he think she wanted to play guess the obvious?

"Wow, you're a real detective."

She was clearly in a bad mood, but it wasn't because of him. He knew that, kind of. He took a couple of long strides, turning to stand in front of her. Glaring down into those beautiful sapphire irises he almost lost his resolve. Almost.

"Go home."

She raised an eyebrow, then lifted her hand and flipped him off. He was insane if he thought she was going to listen to his commands as if she were some good little lapdog. Walking around him she continued on her way, throwing a comment over her shoulder like a stone.

"You go home, pestilence boy."

Did she really just say that? Why was she testing him like this? He wanted nothing more than to throw her over his shoulder and spank her voluptuous backend until she begged for mercy. Instead, he followed in her shadow until she spoke again, unsure how to handle her. She was tough on the outside but fragile within, and one wrong move might ruin everything.

"Why are you here anyway? You dropped me off hours ago."

He sighed, running a hand through his wet hair. She was wasting time now, but he didn't mind it. Clearly, she needed a distraction.

"We've been taking turns watching over your place at night. Better safe than sorry."

She thought that over, frowning.

"If you all had said something to me I would've let you stay inside instead of outside like dogs."

She was being feisty, but he felt like it was a cover for something else. Her pain. He shrugged.

"We didn't want to bug you. You've needed your space and we respect that."

That made her brow furrow, her heart aching a bit. They thought she needed space? Is that why she had felt them backing away a little since that night? Their movements had become calculated and almost unsure. Stopping she suddenly spun around to face him, her hand that held the umbrella trembling a bit.

"Who said I need space?"

He raised an eyebrow, unsure of what he said or did to piss her off. She had been so on edge lately that it hurt him to think of what she was going through. Still, he was here to be strong for her. He wasn't about to break down because of a couple of jabs from her or anyone for that matter.

"Don't you want time to yourself? To heal and think through things?"

She looked down at the pavement as the rain began to form puddles. If she could melt away she might just take that option. At the moment it was better than feeling this way.

"I've been thinking nonstop since it all happened. I don't want any more alone time to torture myself over everything. I don't want everyone to walk on eggshells around me like I'm a ticking time bomb. I know I'm dangerous. I see the way you all look at me like I'm pitiful. I'm not some damaged porcelain doll needing to be glued back together. I'm just..."

She was shaking, tears in her eyes. When her voice broke off he moved in close. Before she knew it he had his arms wrapped around her, the umbrella dropped and forgotten. He didn't think of her as weak or broken. They all just wanted to help.

"Forgive me, mea dea. I never meant to treat you as such."

Moving back a bit he looked down into her eyes, emotions twisting into her soul as she fought back her fears. He rested a hand against the side of her face, his fingers slipping into her hair. Oh, how badly he wanted her at that moment. To hold, protect, and love every bit of darkness in her being.

"I...we just want you to have some time to feel normal again. This has happened so fast for you. We know you need space to adjust and soak it all in."

She laughed a bit, leaning into his touch.

"I'm never going to be normal."

He leaned down, resting his forehead against hers. She was angry, confused and frustrated. It came out as snide remarks to him, but he knew she didn't mean anything by them.

"That's not a bad thing, my goddess. You're meant for greatness, something most people can't even dream of."

She closed her eyes against the impending tears, her hand moving to cover his on her skin. If only he could see the things in her head. The nightmares, the dreams, and the dirty daydreams.

"I would rather live in my dreams, Rysten. I would give anything to escape this world, if even for a little bit."

The world slowed, the raindrops echoed in her ears, and her wishes began to leak into reality. His warm lips touched hers, making her eyes open in shock as she backed up a step. His hand fell away from her, her fingers touching her mouth as she looked up at him.

"What are you..."

The hungry look in those green eyes had her lower abdomen tightening with a need as strong as his. Her skin felt like it was on fire, the only remedy being his sinful touch. She shouldn't want it. Hell, she should fear this man. This demon servant of Lucifer himself.

She couldn't. In her heart, she knew she would never be scared of this man or the others. They had traveled here just for her, to protect her. They couldn't do her any harm. None that she wouldn't like, anyway.

"Rysten."

His name on her lips was like a plea for him to come closer. He saw the shock in her eyes turn to desire, then a heated lust so deep it had his demanding shaft twitching. He needed her like a wildfire needs oxygen, spreading to every part of his soul as he moved in on her.

When they met this time she was open to him, his grasp claiming her body as his. One strong hand laced into the hair at the nape of her neck, the other arm wrapped around her waist, pulling her in close. The moan that slipped from her mouth when he kissed her was heavenly.

Her hands held onto his button-up shirt, wanting nothing more than to rip it open. As the kiss deepened she opted for unbuttoning the thing. They were both soaked from head to toe, but she couldn't feel the chill. Instead, she felt her heart racing and her body liquifying between her thighs.

When he moved it was to lift her into his arms and grab the umbrella. With a grin down at her he walked back toward the building.

"Let me warm you up."
