Chapter 1
~Her
I woke up, put on my running gear and I headed out the door, put on some good music and away in the distance I went. I was lost in the music and didn’t realize how far I’ve gone. But I guess I needed it. I’ve been running for more than 45 minutes. Wow I didn’t feel tired, but I turned around and headed back to the house at a faster pace.
When I got back to the house, something felt off. I normally don’t see anything or anybody when I go out for a run but when I got back in the house, the house was empty. Only to find a notebook and the first page saying
“I can’t explain but I had to leave. Take this with you to this address. It’s a bit of a drive there is money and snacks in your car.” I was in shock what? I continued reading,
“this won’t make sense, but you have to go to this address because you’re coming of age.” I just turned 21 a few months ago. For some reason I did as it said and I packed up and headed to that address. It was five hours south. Luckily, I didn’t mind driving. Put on some good music and here we go.
I tried calling him but no answer. So many questions running through my head. Why did my uncle leave me? And why take everything? Did he not love me? Why wouldn’t he take me? And why did he leave while I was on my run? I did it everyday so he knew what I was doing. I always thought we were close.
I only had about 30 minutes left, a little gas station, perfect. I wanted some chocolate and a coffee. I pulled in, grabbed a hoodie. And some cash. I walked in and it wasn’t like a normal gas station. It had a food joint. I couldn’t read the name of it because it was so faded but I looked around and I saw a Hershey bar with almonds and luckily they had a ton of my coffees. It looks like there were a couple workers and there were a few other customers. They seemed to know each other; they were talking and joking back-and-forth. I didn’t know why but the door opened and I felt a chill down my spine. It was weird I wasn’t scared. I looked over in the direction.
A tall guy walked in with a hood over his head, joggers, and some sneakers. I felt very comfortable which was weird because I didn’t know where I was, but I grabbed some waters because I didn’t know what would be at the address I was going to. I walked to the counter, and I saw some takeout menus, so I grabbed some and shoved them under my arm. A guy came to the counter, dark hair, blue eyes, muscular, very tall.
He said “Are you new? I’ve never seen you around because I would’ve noticed.”
I said “yes, I’m Maggie. It’s a long story of why I’m here but I plan to figure it out.”
“I can’t wait to hear it. I’m Nick. I know the area pretty well so if you need anything, just holler.”
I got back in my car and I continued to the address. I turned right. And it felt like I was driving straight forever. There was nothing but trees. I only saw a few cars pass. I looked around and I could see there was a trail. Thought to myself “good I will get on that tomorrow.”
Finally
I made it to the address. It was a little cabin in the woods. I could see other cabins around, which was good. I looked back at the notebook and it said the key was under the mat. It wasn’t dark but the sun was getting low.
I opened the door and wow, was not what I was expecting. It was completely furnished, an open floor plan. You can see the TV from the kitchen. An island in the kitchen. There were 4 bedrooms, 3 and half baths. I grabbed my stuff and I got settled in. Like my mom did, I turned every light on. All the bedrooms were upstairs but the laundry room was downstairs.
I got the notebook out and started reading it and of course it didn’t make any sense. Talking about mates, and alpha blood running through my veins so the change might happen sooner than later. So many questions of why and how come? So I picked up my phone and called Uncle, no answer and straight to voicemail.
I was getting a little hungry so I walked in the kitchen, thinking it would be empty and I was glad I grabbed the takeout menus. I opened the fridge and it was full of food. I was thinking that it’s so weird the pantry is full of food. There was even a pizza. So of course that’s my go to, turned on the oven and ate some pizza.
I wanted to clear my head, so I got some coffee and walked to the porch. It even wrapped around the house which I loved. The air was fresh. Pine trees everywhere. I was tired but I knew if I went to bed, I would toss and turn. I stayed on the porch and just stood. That chill down my spine came back, all I could see was the moon light reflecting off the water through the trees. Thinking I will have to go over there tomorrow. So, I unpacked and put everything up. Luckily, the dresser had enough drawers, so I put everything up. I got my running shoes out by the door and I charged my watch ready for tomorrow’s run. Turned out the lights, locked the door headed upstairs. As soon as my head hit the pillow I was out.
Him~
I could finally smell her. I thought I never would. My parents met so soon after the change. I changed 3 years ago. I know I couldn’t rush it, since she hadn’t had the change yet. I know she didn’t because she didn’t run to me in the gas station. But it’s the best food in town so I had to go in. I saw Nick, and a few other pack members. They told me a few plans for the party. I wasn’t listening because I was thinking about her. My dad told me someone was going to be living in the cabin to get it ready for a friend’s family member. I didn’t know it would be my mate. I’m glad I was able to put everything up before she got there. I don’t know how I will sleep knowing she is here. I tried to stay away from her as much as I could.
I went for my normal evening run at a faster pace so I would have to go to sleep. My wolf felt good. I felt good. My heart was over the moon. Thank you goddess. Of course I had to get another look at her. I was in my wolf form so I knew she wouldn’t see or hear me. Since I was the first born, my wolf is black. She was drinking coffee on the porch. I couldn’t see her body very well because of the hoodie but I knew she was perfect. Perfect for me. Her long brown hair with a bit of blonde streaks in it. Her eyes are brown. My heart was beating out of my chest, my wolf was so horny just looking at her but he knew he had to wait till the change happened. As soon as she went back inside we ran back home which was farther in the woods. We will see her tomorrow.
