The Numbness
The music is too silent,
The silence is too loud.
The day is so dark,
But the night is too bright.
The body is so alive,
But the mind is broken tonight.
I’m waiting, I’m waiting, I’m waiting.
Until the sleep will finally take me.
But it’s 5 am and I’m wide awake.
Please let this mean that something’s about to change.
The touch is too easy,
The words are too hard.
The skin is so tight,
But the soul is too wide.
The passion is so short,
But the numbness is longer than ever before.
Too much, too little, too fast, too slow.
I cannot grasp on something to hold.
Oh, the day, the night, the week, the month.
It’s slipping, it’s slipping…until it blurs into one.
