Chapter 1
There are so many different types of animal shifters in the world, these shifters don't usually mix with each other, unless they are fated to be mates, but every once in a while some just like the company of having another before they meet their mate.
Mostly this kind of get together is kept to those with the same animal spirits, but on rare occasions there one night stands with a different kind of shifter.
That is what happened for Jerry Stormer, he is a wolf shifter and he met and befriended a she-tiger called Fiona Hillson. The two of them met when they got sent to go to an all shifter school. This is probably the only time that mixed shifters get along and befriend each other.
After they graduate school they never speak to each other again, no matter how friendly they were in school.
The two friends felt a strange connection to each other and became instant best friends, but they did not feel the pull of the mate bond, so were not fated mates.
It was only one night, when Fiona was eighteen, she snuck out and attended a birthday celebration for Jerry when he was in the human town with his younger brothers, the three guys decided to do a pub crawl to celebrate Jerry turning nineteen and their father announced that he was passing down the reins of the pack to him in a months time. Fiona joined them along with several other friends and that is when they had a bit too much alcohol which led to Jerry and Fiona in bed together.
With respect Fiona and Jerry agreed that it was only a one time thing and that it wasn't going to affect their friendship. Which for the next few weeks it didn't, they went back to being friends, they texted and chatted in private whenever they found the time.
It was days away from Jerry getting the Alpha's title from his father, that the bomb shell dropped. Fiona called him in panic and confessed to Jerry that she is pregnant with his child.
The tiger clan, that Fiona is next in line to be Luna of once she found her fated mate, is about an hour away from the pack that Jerry is meant to take over from his father, the current Alpha Kaiden Stormer.
So for them seeing each other regularly wasn't an issue as long as they kept it quiet since they were meant to not communicate with others anymore. However the biggest issue is that they couldn't ignore each other because whether they liked it or not they were going to be parents. That's frowned upon since they are without a mate bond and giving birth to a hybrid child.
The council of supernaturals are a bunch of snobby, mean, old men who definitely do not like cross breeding, not even fated mates cross breeding, the difference is that they cant interfere if it was bound by fate but if it is outside of a bond then they can make the parents lives incredibly difficult.
Determined to find a way to be apart of his child's life, Jerry went to his family and told them everything. His brothers were shocked but happy for him, his father was disappointed but believed that everything happens for a reason and that the Moon Goddess bless his son with a child for a reason.
The down side is that his father decided to withhold the title of Alpha being passed down to him, until everyone can have an agreement of what will happen in the future once this hybrid child is born.
However the reaction was completely different for Fiona, she knew that her family would be upset but nothing prepared her for exactly how bad they were going to be. In a fit of rage her father almost attacked her, her brother, Horris called her nasty names and her mother looked at her like she was a dirty stranger.
They gave her the option to abort her baby or give up her right to run the streak as its Luna, that's what tigers called their clans while wolves call them packs, and leave the clan forever.
They had a strong belief that she would be terrified of the outside world and not want to be left to raise a child alone, which is true she was scared and alone, but Fiona shocked them by giving everything up and choosing to keep her baby.
The only kindness that they showed their daughter before disowning her, is that her family allowed her to pack some clothes before forcing her off of clan lands.
With nowhere else to go, Fiona had no choice but turn to the only person that she had left and that was Jerry.
He was furious and so was his father, they consulted the Council about the situation and requested permission for her to become a member of their pack but unsurprisingly the Council refused and turn her away.
Fiona was homeless and clanless, she lived in a human town with others that were packless or clanless and had frequent visits from Jerry, Thomas, Blake and even their father visited her. He couldn't go against the power of the council but as long as they never found out then he would help her anyway that he could.
Jerry's father got Fiona in to a small apartment and helped her get started on her feet, it wasn't long before she gave birth to a little girl which they called Rebekah Stormhill.
Again Jerry tired to plead with the council about letting Fiona and Rebekah join the pack or even just live on pack lands without officially joining but they were denied again and again.
The pair would not know, until she turns sixteen, whether their little Rebekah would be a wolf shifter or a tiger shifter or even on rare occasions maybe she could shift in to both, it is possible but not certain.
Jerry ended up giving his Alpha position to his brother, Thomas because he admitted that he wasn't in the right head space to actually take over, so as a switch up since Thomas is second born then he became the next Alpha, Blake became the Beta and Jerry took the role of Gamma.
Five years of having to sneak around, Jerry had not yet met his mate and the Council were being horrid by saying that since he had a child with another, then the Moon Goddess saw him as being unworthy of having a mate to care for.
Fiona found her mate when Rebekah was four years old, she was working at the time and he seemed nice, but he unfortunately rejected her after he found out about Rebekah and left her choosing another female as his chosen mate. It broke Fiona's heart but she would never betray her Rebekah and if that ex mate of hers can't see the specialness of her daughter then he wasn't meant to be for her.
Soon after Rebekah's fifth birthday, Fiona was at work in the human town while Jerry had took Rebekah in to the pack house, without the council knowing of course, the whole pack loved Rebekah an enjoyed having her around.
That day there was an attack by humans, they came in to town and set fire to a bunch of buildings, including the apartment block that housed packless and clanless shifters. The humans also took out a small stores that was said to have hired shifters and one of them was the place Fiona worked at.
Many died that day including Fiona, she burned in the store unable to get out after she helped out the shoppers, who were both packless wolves, that were also caught in the blaze.
Jerry was greaving about his best friends death and then he was infuriated with the fact that the council had the audacity to not only refuse his child to live in the pack but forced him to put her in foster care, while giving him the order that he is to never be in touch with her again or it could spell his and her death.
Jerry believes that the council somehow must have discovered that he was still in touch with Fiona and Rebekah, so now they were making an example out of him because for the last five years he has ignored them about Rebekah. The example is to ensure that he and others would not cross them again
The day of Fiona's small funeral was heart breaking, he lost his best friend and that was also the day he lost his little girl to a bunch of humans that put her in the care of human foster care.
